We are hoping the work at the Medical Center will be completed soon. They organized it well, hardly was an inconvenience except for the office staff and the parking, but we’ll be glad to have it back to normal.
The poor Paper Hut is coming apart. It was made with light weight materials in the first place and has tipped over in the wind several times. We’re not sure how to fix the problem. If you are hauling in paper/cardboard recyclables and can fit them into the bin via the windows, please do so. Our main problem with using the big end door was when people piled things right in the doorway and the far end of the bin was empty. Hard to reorganize piles of paper. Perhaps someone can offer to rebuild, fix, repair the poor Hut. Stop by Books & More if you have ideas.
The North Yuba Little League baseball season has started and the games are a great way to have some family fun. My husband and I were at our grandson’s game on Saturday and we had a fantastic time watching the little T-ball players. Even if you don’t have a family member playing, it is still a lot of fun to watch the kids playing. Most games are played on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at either Ponderosa Park in Brownsville or Sperbeck Park in Browns Valley.
The local reader has returned from a week’s vacation in Las Vegas, of all places. Not her usual “cup of tea” but lots to see for one from the hills. Now to get back into the serious business of reading.
This may be our last chance to burn piles of yard waste for awhile. New burn permits will be due soon.
Look Back in Time – In 1925 at the rabbit races those from Rackerby were clocked by judges at 13 ¾ seconds faster than any others ever run in California. (Can you really train a rabbit to run a course? Sounds like there were other in California, too. What no TV will do!)
Hope to see you in Brownsville soon. Christine and Yvonne
