Free Range Chickens Vs Agenda 21 Micro Apartments

By now, I am assuming that most everybody knows that chickens have been given a new lease on life. There has been a movement for some time now to give those tightly caged laying hens, a lot more space and greater freedom and even give them a new life on the range. Yes, I’m all into that. In fact I’ve been into this free range movement ever since I was a young boy. Give me liberty or give me death!

Meanwhile back at the ranch, I didn’t like seeing birds caged in close quarters but I also don’t like seeing people caged either. But why is there more concern for a dumb chicken in a cage than a human being in a micro apartment? I just have to wonder, what is this world coming to? In addition, how many Americans know that they are on the verge of being stacked and packed into micro-apartments in the big cites just like China and Japan? It’s in the “global citizen” play book. That’s right. And what happened to that home on the range? It was torn down to make more room for the chickens and the toads and frogs, and the lizards, and the rest of the animals that are “endangered.” Also, more space will be needed for the deer and the antelope to play. But let’s round up the wild horses in the process. What about all of those packs of wolves? Might as well just open the gates and let them roam the free range too, but be sure to protect the chickens and their eggs.

On another note, $10.00 for a dozen "free range" eggs isn’t "too bad." Yet, for that price you may want to look in the grass for those colored eggs that were left over from Easter.

OK, lets get back on track now. In case people are not aware of it, administrative planners in many counties are now pushing for smart cities. However, micro-apartments are a NO-WIN living situation and the size of your dwelling, truly DOES matter. Studies are already showing that tight living quarters are linked to psychological problems, domestic violence and drug abuse. What do rats do when there are too many of them in a tight living arrangement? THEY FIGHT. It has been shown that stacking and packing people in micro-apartments can be ‘definitely unhealthy’ and especially for those in their 30s and 40s. Suicide? Also, children in small units can be 'withdrawn,' and have trouble concentrating. Lower test scores?

Furthermore, micro-units may actually DRIVE UP prices, meaning renters might spend the same amount of money on studios in a city that they would have spent on a bigger place because developers are raking in the chips while big cities are clamoring for all of the extra money related to new property taxes, permits, and environmental management plans.

In addition, there has already been a backlash with regard to Mayor Michael Bloomberg's idea of building micro-units in New York City. The apartments would be between 250 and 370 square feet. But I’m game. Where can I sign up? Are there any left? I would truly die for one these! I just hope there will be enough room for my grand piano and my smart chicken.
