For many years the hunt was sponsored by the Williams Kiwanis Club but when they could no longer host it the group asked Supervisor Mark Marshall to take it over. Marshall approached the Christian Men’s Fellowship at his home church; Community Church in Williams. The group agreed to sponsor the hunt and so a long standing tradition remains alive and well.
“The hunt is open to all Williams citizens,” said Marshall. “It is always something that we look forward to sponsoring. It is an event our community is always excited about,” he said.
The members of the Community Church will prepare more than 2000 eggs to be hidden for the children from ages 1 year old to 8 years old, there will also be a section for babies that can’t yet walk. Special eggs will be hidden that are prize eggs which are traded in for chocolate Easter Bunnies and beautiful Easter baskets which promise to bring a smile to any child’s face. “This is a wonderful family event that celebrates the true reason for Easter,” said Marshall adding that he would also like to remind everyone that there will be an Easter Sunrise service at the cross west of Williams on King road at Leesville road starting at 6 am Easter morning. Many of the local Christian Churches gather at this annual service to celebrate their Christian faith and watch the sun rise over the Sutter Buttes. Services are also scheduled to be held at the Williams Community Church at 9th and C streets in Williams and will start at 10:30 am Easter morning , everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
