The Second Best Marigold Hotel
Starring: Judi Dench,
Maggie Smith, and Bill Nighy
Rated: PG Runtime: 122 min
The Second Best Marigold Hotel, is the continued story of an outsourced retirement home in India that attracts pensioners from England. Sonny, the proprietor of the hotel is single mindedly bent on expanding his hotel. Meanwhile the guests are finding fulfillment and joy in their stay at the first Marigold Hotel. Finding courage and love and sharing that love to make life and the world better.
The story is fun and socially painful at times. The acting is superb and like visiting old friends. The flow of the film is a bit disjointed but comes together in the end. The story also relies on the audience having seen the first film and being familiar with the characters. My eyes leaked a little a few times.
The Second Best Marigold Hotel, earns four out of five Advice Giving Monkeys. I suggest watching the first film before going to see this. This is a fun film and a fun way to spend a few hours after eating at the Fireside Bar & Grill in Yuba City. Not a bad burger and a clean place with friendly staff and growing amenities.
