Several days ago while driving home from Browns Valley to Brownsville, I noticed that a campaign sign for Supervisor Hal Stocker had been defaced with a big “NO”. Since the sign was on the other side of a barbed wire fence and well off the road, it must have taken a very determined vandal to commit the crime. Yesterday a sign supporting Hal Stocker that was out of sight on our property was stolen while another sign in front of our house in plain view was left untouched. Obviously the person/people carrying out these petty attacks on free speech have lost their sense of respect for others and lack the courage to debate issues in the light of day.
These two acts of vandalism are a reminder of the way local politics often played out before Hal Stocker was elected as supervisor representing the 5th District. Hal has always been one to listen to the voters in his district and represent their views when important county decisions are made. He is a statesman who bases his actions on resident surveys, research, and logic. For 5th District Supervisor, vote for Hal Stocker .
