Insurgent
Starring: Shailene Woodley,
Ansel Elgort, and Theo James
Rated: PG-13 Runtime: 119 min
Insurgent, is the second movie in a series based on a set of books written by, Veronica Roth. The story is set in a future where mankind is nearly destroyed by war and a walled city is built as the last hope of mankind. The new society is built around a faction system that closely monitors and controls the members. Deviation from this system leads to chaos and the blind following of this system leads to savage oppression.
The story relies heavily on the viewer having seen the first movie or read the books. The acting is sufficient and the effects are really good.
Insurgent, earns two out of five, Train Jumping Monkeys. This isn’t a bad movie but it will be better watched on Netflix. Judging by the current ticket sales there will be a part three. The power of a story is that we always want to know what happens next. So the power of this story is enough to drag me back to the theater for the next film. I will read the books if I happen to come across them in the dollar bin at, Gotta Luv Books, after I finish the twenty books in my next to read pile.
Have fun and remember there are few things more beautiful than an honest smile.
