From wikipedia: The Jim Crow laws were racial segregation laws enacted between 1876 and 1965 in the United States at the state and local level. They mandated de jure racial segregation in all public facilities in Southern states of the former Confederacy, with, starting in 1890, a "separate but equal" status for Blacks. The separation in practice led to conditions for Blacks that tended to be inferior to those provided for white Americans, systematizing a number of economic, educational and social disadvantages. De jure segregation mainly applied to the Southern United States.
Some examples of Jim Crow laws are the segregation of public schools, public places, public transportation, and the segregation of restrooms, restaurants, and drinking fountains for whites and blacks.
Civil disobedience is defined as a refusal to obey laws as a way of forcing the government to do or change something.
During the 1950's we watched nightly on TV the civil disobedience as the Blacks protested the Jim Crow laws, which eventually were overturned. This was a good outcome of the civil disobedience.
Civil disobedience was on mainstream TV every night during the phony "Occupy Wall Street" movement. No lack of coverage.
Today we see Cliven Bundy, a Nevada cattleman, fighting unjust laws with no representation. Mr. Bundy's family has been ranching in this area for more than a hundred years. Ranching is his livelihood. He is not only fighting unjust laws designed to put him out of business,( the Endangered Species Act is one that comes to mind) but a bureaucracy dominated by the self-appointed King of Nevada, Harry Reid. Through Cliven Bundy's efforts we finally see the underbelly of corruption that unfortunately exists in our government, it's not just in Nevada, it's prevalent and Harry Reid is at the center. It is doubtful that the outcome of this civil disobedience will be as positive as the overturning of Jim Crow Laws. You see, this is not the kind of civil disobedience that is favored by the mainstream media so you do not see it on your nightly TV news.
Mainstream media types have often questioned what do they mean "it's time to take back our country." The Bundy stance should show them the answer and the frustrations that come from a loss of freedoms, a government that picks and chooses what laws to enforce, a government that will send armed military against its own citizens but won't protect its borders.
From the Leftist, civil disobedience is patriotic unless you are conservative; then it is terrorism.
