Great Local Golf

Plumas Lake Golf & Country Club has recently been re-rated by the NCGA Ratings Committee. The findings of that extensive process resulted in an increase from 70.2 to 70.9 from the white tees and from 71.1 to 71.9 from the blue tees. This substantial increase has verified that Plumas Lake GCC is, yard for yard, one of the toughest tests of golf in Northern California. When comparing other golf courses course rating from the 6400 distance very few courses have commanded a higher rating of difficulty from the NCGA. Golf Courses with equivalent or higher degrees of difficulty from 6400 yards are extremely prestigious facilities such as: The Olympic Club, San Francisco Golf Club, Poppy Hills, Spyglass Hill, and Pastiempo. The major reasons for this course rating increase as cited by the NCGA include; the extremely undulating greens that were rebuilt in 2006; the increase in green speed; the forced lay-up shots required due to drainage canal throughout the course; and the increased size of the abundant mature trees that have made the course play more difficult.
Plumas Lake GCC is a semi-private facility open to the public located in Marysville and has recently been voted as the “Appeal Democrats Best Golf Course in Yuba Sutter for 2012”.
