North Valley Family Physicians Celebrates 20 years

Colusa, County
North Valley Family Physicians is celebrating its 20th anniversary in Colusa County this year and is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
“We are a complete medical practice that offers an entire spectrum of services to patients ranging from pregnant mothers to senior citizens,” said Arlene Arnold, the director of operations at North Valley Family Physicians.
The practice is a Family Medical Facility which offers complete physicals, acute and chronic care, laceration repair and treatment of skin conditions. It also provides vaccinations, geriatric medicine, and treatment to workman's compensation patients.
North Valley Family Physicians offers pediatric care, obstetrics and gynecology and in-office surgery that includes fracture care, cryosurgery, removal of warts, moles and skin cancers and colon cancer screening.
To help meet the needs of its patients on the west side of the county, North Valley Family Physicians opened a satellite office in Williams and physicians Julian Delgado and Michael Goodman also tend to pregnant mothers in Glenn County as well. The patients are seen in Willows for prenatal care, yet the deliveries are performed at the Colusa Regional Medical Center. Physicians Delgado and Goodman are both board certified to perform C-Section child delivery as is their colleague Antonio Meraz.
“The goal of this practice is to help meet the medical needs of the communities and that is why the physicians chose to open a satellite office in Williams,” Arnold said. “The idea of having a satellite office on the west side is to reduce the distance our patients have to travel in order to have their medical needs met.”
North Valley Family Physicians has a team of four medical professionals who see patients. Krista Taylor, a family nurse practitioner, joined the team in 2002 followed by the arrival of Dr. Meraz in 2008.
“In addition to family out-patient care at our Colusa and Williams offices, our three physicians provide after hours care and tend to patients regular hospitalizations at CRMC,” said Arnold.
North Valley Family Physicians was founded in 1991 by Delgado.
“I was recruited by Colusa Community Hospital as it was referred to back then, and the UC Davis Medical Group, to open a private practice in this area.” Delgado said. “They asked me to come to Colusa and reopen the obstetrics department at the hospital, and I did.”
In 2000, Delgado called Goodman, who he had known and worked with in Hanford, California, and asked him to come to Colusa and join the practice.
“My wife and I visited the area and fell in love with it,” Goodman said. “The rest is history.”
Delgado and Goodman said they would like to thank the residents of Colusa County for their support over the past twenty-years and they look forward to seeing them for another twenty-years.
North Valley Family Physicians will host a Chamber of Commerce Social Mixer in honor of its 20th anniversary from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2, at the Colusa office located at 173 E. Webster Street. The public is also invited for refreshments from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, at Colusa and Williams offices. The Williams office is located at 501 E. Street, Suite B.
