Sutter - Yuba Realtors Give Back

Sutter-Yuba Realtors and Affiliates raised $2500 to aid the community with various needs and raised $1,175 for their annual Clothes for Kids events.

The Sutter-Yuba Association of Realtors held their annual Easter food and gift auction on Tuesday March 31st at their weekly MLS network meeting.

Auction items included Easter Bunnies, Plants, Easter Baskets, Easter Bonnets, Candy and lots of homemade goodies. The Realtors and Affiliates were very generous! Examples of their generosity include: Easter Bunny cakes sold for up to $85.00 each, a homemade apple pie sold for $120.00. Two baskets of home canned pickles and such went for $135.00 each and the list goes on. All of the items auctioned off were also donated by the Realtors and Affiliates.

The Food and Charities Committee determines how the money is to be spent with the approval of the Board of Directors. The monies have been used in the past to assist Wounded Warriors, Cedar Lane and Covillaud Schools, to help with their Holiday events, The Toy Run, Sutter Animal Society, Feather River Men’s Center Chronicles and others. They also contribute to fellow members when tragedy hits.
The Clothes for Kids Committee is in its sixth year and for the last two years has been headed up by Holly Shackleford.

The Clothes for Kids raises monies to clothe less fortunate children for school. Each child is allotted $125.00 for clothes and shoes. J.C. Penny partners and the event couldn’t take place without them. In 2014, over 135 children were clothed. The goal this year is to clothe 200 children. The 2015 event is scheduled for July 25th.

May 7th Clothes for kids will have a wine and beer event at City Café to raise funds. Tickets are $20.00 and you get 5 tastings of wine or beer. Food will be available for purchase too.

The community is invited to participate in some of the events. There is an annual golf tournament that raises monies for both of these committees. The golf tournament is scheduled for June 5th. There will be a Cinco de Mayo lunch served at the Sutter Yuba Association meeting room on May 5th. You can contact Connie at 682-0912 for more information on the luncheon and contact Holly at 682-2201 to volunteer to take a child shopping!

"The Sutter-Yuba Association thanks all of their Realtors and Affiliates that serve as volunteers on the various committees and contribute to events. With their help the Association and its members are able to give back to the community that gives so much to them,” Stated Shirley Henrikson.

cutline: Tony Bevacqua prior long time lender affiliate and the official auctioneer brought humor and fun to the event. Connie Coughlin on Tony’s right is the Food and Charities Committee Chair and Gayliene Cole is one of the committee members. They helped keep track of the bids and ran the items to the successful bidders!
