Justina Robles celebrates 100 years

Nearly 100 friends and family members gathered in Grimes at the home of Justina Robles on March 21 to celebrate the long-time Grimes resident’s 100th birthday.

Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren welcomed guests including many Grimes residents and former Grimes residents who came to celebrate in the front yard of her home.

There were mariachi musicians who sang for the birthday girl and at the young age of 100, she remembered the words and sang along some favorite songs.

Justina Robles and her husband the late Simon Robles moved to Grimes in 1934 shortly after they were married. They raised three children; the late Simon Robles Jr., Lupe Robles-Sane and David Robles there.

Robles-Sane said that her mother most treasured her family and her many friends and in return she is treasured by many. Visitors to the Robles home were always welcomed with warmth, friendship and food.

“We and our mother were most grateful to the many people who sent cards, made phone calls and stopped by to wish her well,” said Robles-Sane.

Joining Justina for her birthday were her sisters Sarah and Nelly.
